Tranny Mount Replacement After 23 years of hard use, the original tranny mount was in sorry shape. The rubber had deteriorated and the entire mount had become almost a third shorter. The near constant spray of oil from the leaky engine had reduced it to a sticky soggy mess.
I chose to replace the stock unit with a rebuildable unit made by Race Proven Designs that I purchased from AT Scouts. It is fully rebuildable, using poly bushings and a thick nylon bottom piece.
The replacement was straight forward - I used a floorjack and some 2X4 pieces against the tranny pan to lift the drivetrain enough to remove the old mount and install the other. I was surprised at how much the original mount had sagged relative to the height of the new mount.
Perhaps that is the way it originally was, but afterwards there was somewhat more tranny vibration with the new mount. I don't think that it was truly driveshaft vibes, though.
